My Montrose showed up

Today when I got home I had a delivery notice hanging on my door, it said that my package would be ready tomorrow at 13:00 well tomorrow is Canada Day and I will be rather busy with Alex MacMoose and the rest of the SOKS group. Therefore I thought I'd take my chances at picking up my package. Inside I found the Montrose Doublet that I recently won from ebay, I've been looking for one in my size for some time so I have been excited about the win to say the least.

Knowing that the Motrose Doublet was on it's way the only thing I needed to complete the outfit was a set of Jabot and cuffs these I got from Ancienne Alliance and his lovely wife the Lady Crystal, these are absolutely wonderful and I am so very pleased to have them in my collection. Thank you both again for the wonderful work I will treasure the set.

I have to say that I now understand what others have said about the heat inside one of these, and I am for once glad that most formal events are in the winter months. So without any further from me here are the photos.

New Balmoral

The mail man delivered my Navy Blue Balmoral from glengarryhats today, I am still trying to get used to it as I am not much of a hat person, however I did want something to put the new X-Marks Clan Badge on, this also explains the colour choice I made. Unfortunately my Clan Badge has not shown up as yet, but when it does I'll be ready.

I ordered a 7 1/4" Balmoral as this is the size of my other hats, I've found it to be a bit tight fitting this may be due to the fact that as I said I'm not much of a hat person. Once the X-Marks Clan Badge arrives I will of course get pictures of it and most likely wear the X-Marks Tartan Kilt as well.

It is as far as I can tell a very well made Balmoral and if I do need to have another I will order from Glengarry Hats again, you just need a wee bit of patience but it is well worth it in the end. Here is a hastily taken self portrait.

Last week of training starts today

So today starts the last week of training I go in at 2:00 until 10:30pm then next week it's back to the normal schedule. I something different today with the outfit, anytime I wear blue I end up wearing black accessories with it, I decided today to wear brown, I think it works and brown is a more traditional colour for daywear, as things are getting warm here I'm not sure if I'll keep the jacket or even the tie on but for now it's OK I'll most likely dress like this anyway as it is calling for rain again. I've also discovered if I put my camera o top of the TV I can still get shots without the tripod, it will have to do until the new tripod comes in.

Broken Tripod

I went for a hike the other day after after work, and my $1.00 off ebay tripod broke, maybe next time I'll spend a bit more. Anyway I do have some pictures to put up I got a shot of me with my new walking stick wearing the Graham of Mantieth tartan and the Blue Argyll jacket Lovat Green hose, Blue traditional garter ties, the Ferguson Britt Skunk Sporran and the lovely hand made sgian dubh that Casey made for me, thanks again Casey I really love and have been wearing it everyday.

I'm off to Aunt Jean's today as I was not able to go up during the week, then tonight is a kilt night with Dee from the States who is up in the Toronto area.

SCD in the park

I was so glad to be able to go to Scottish Country Dancing in the Park tonight, it was wonderful to be back as I've missed a few weeks in a row. It was great seeing old friends and being able to dance. I did not get many photos as I was busy enjoying the dance however I did get a few as I was taking a wee rest.

I wore my Isle of Skye with the Brown Accessories and Muskrat Sporran got a few compliments on my ensemble, it was a great night, I really do like Scottish Country Dancing.

Busy weekend

It was a busy weekend, with the Georgetown Highland Games on Saturday and Father's Day on Sunday. I did get some pictures and finally got myself a walking stick, and a Rangers Jersey, it looks great with the Royal Naval Association tartan, as you can see I got a bit too much sun. Ah well it was a good day nonetheless.

Last day of training for the week

This is it for training this week, it is pretty hot here today so I'm wearing a T Shirt although it is a fairly dressy one, it's not made of cotton like the average T Shirt. I am wearing it with my Dress MacDonald 5 yarder from Burnett's and Struth, Hawick Argyll top hose and my Ferguson Britt Skunk Sporran. It seems strange to wear a Dress tartan with a T Shirt but in this case I really think it works. Tomorrow is the Highland Games in Georgetown it should be a good day, but they are calling for rain, we'll see how that goes.

A Gift and still more training

Yesterday a package came for me, it was a modern take on a sgian dubh that a friend made for me, it is a wonderful little sgian and I will wear it often as it is very comfortable.

Yesterday I wore the Isle of Skye with my Scottish Rugby Jersey and purple hose also my Freelander sporran.

Today I decided for something a little dramatic so I thought the yellow shirt matches the yellow stripe in my MacPherson Dress Kilt, this is what happens when you use a timer, but I thought it gives a nice look at the movement of the kilt.

Training Day

I have to go into training again this afternoon, this morning I watched the Princess Bride, still a great little movie, anyway maybe it was that but I decided to wear my own rendition of a Man in Black outfit. I do not yet have an all black kilt though I hope to have one soon, so I am wearing my Black Stewart, with a black shirt black hose and my freelander sporran.

Another Day of Training

Well yesterday was another day of training, we've had a bit of a heat wave so I've been glad to have a couple 4 yard box pleat kilts to wear. Yesterday I wore my Ulster Scot tartan with a polo shirt my gold/yellow hose from Hawick Hose co. and my Muskrat Ferguson Britt Sporran. We had some bad thunderstorms last night so the oppressive heat has left for now, hopefully it will continue this way.

Lots of Celebrations

Yesterday my family got together to celebrate a few different things firstly it was my Aunt Jean's 80th Birthday, my Mothers 69th Birthday, and later on in the week is my Parents 49th Wedding Anniversary. We all got together at my Aunt's house it was a very hot day so I wore one of my 4 yard box pleated kilts instead of an 8 yard kilt, so I wore my MacDonald of Sleat with my Ferguson Britt Muskrat Sporran, the oatmeal hose match the shirt well. The first picture is me with my niece Elizabeth, and the second shot is my brothers my Dad my Aunt Jean and myself.

Scottish Music Festival?

Yesterday I went down to Yonge and Dundas square for the promise of a Scottish Music Festival, I was the only one in a kilt, wore the Graham of Mantieth with the Graham shirt and belt buckle, and my Ancient Scot Hawick hose. Anyway the first performer was a Metis fiddler named Sierra Noble??? She was good don't get me wrong I just question why she was there at all. Of course people just had to come up to me regarding the kilt, all in all it was a good day, but it got very hot down there and I left early.

Same kilt two looks

I've got to say one of my favourite kilts has to be my Royal Naval Association kilt I wore it yesterday with Blue and I'm wearing it again today with Burgundy I've not tried this yet but did see pictures of a friend in a McKay tartan and these colours I thought it looked good so figured I'd try it out myself. So first outfit RNA Tartan with blue shirt and hose and the skunk Ferguson Britt the second is with Burgundy shirt and hose with the Muskrat Ferguson Britt sporran.

Wednesday

This is the outfit I wore yesterday for work, it was a bit cold in the training room, so I don't think I'll do a short sleeve shirt again, anyway today it's up to Aunt Jeans then into work for training.

Yesterday I also got started on the Canadian Cancer Society's Relay for Life I am trying to get a kilted team together for June 20th. If this works out I'd like to make it an annual event.

First day of Training

Today was the first day of my training, I'm very tired, there seems to be quite a bit to learn and while I do look forward to leaning it, and I seem to be doing OK, it will take some time to get used to the new schedule. On the upside I am looking forward to having the weekends off.

Today Iwore the Graham of Mantieth from Hector Russell, with a Blue shirt from 4 you, my Saltire hose are from the Hawick Hose company, the garter ties are from the Scottish Tartan Museum, I am also wearing my Freelander Sporran and the belt and sporran strap are of my own construction.

Sunday at Edwards Gardens

Today I decided to go to Edwards Gardens to take some photos, unfortunately the batteries for the camera died so I came back home to charge them, I'll most likely go back tomorrow before yet another new shift at work. I did get a couple of pictures before it died.

This is the outfit I wore, my Graham of Mantieth 8 yard from Hector Russell, with my Freelander sporran, the shirt is a Graham Clan Crest shirt from the Scottish Tartan Museum. The belt is from the Scottish Company, and the buckle is from Oconee Leatherworks, the Lovet Green hose, and Blue flashes were both from ebay.
